Background: When I was 14 I discovered competitive cycling. It was more than just a chance to ride my bike, rather it gave me a place to get a work out, and a place to satisfy my from curiosity and, unfortunately, a distraction from school.
My family is very much involved in the health science: my mom was a nurse, my dad a biochemist, and two of my sisters have gone on to become top nurses.
I college I pursued cycling, and went to Belgium for 2 months to test my skills there. At the time, I didn’t think it went very well, so, upon returning to The States, I went back to college and finished up my degree in Exercise Science / Physiology.
I decided to go to the Boulder College of Massage Therapy as an expected stepping stone to a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Education: The Boulder College of Massage Therapy was far more intensive and higher caliber than I ever expected. For some of my classmates, it was a good education. However, for me, it was a great education. With my background in physiology and other fields, in preparation for a top PT education, I quickly saw that the teachers were presenting extremely powerful and useful information. I saw that they were showing us how to apply the very best theories of various fields, with the luxury of having the time to present us with the steps upon which these theories were built.
As a physiologist, I had a good idea of what was “possible” in terms of current medicine and science. When I saw techniques that were achieving amazing results, that were outside the understanding of current medicine, I took particular note.
Experience: In the last 4 years I have had the chance to do almost every type of bodywork: from top, international athletes, to treating and removing chronic, “unexplainable” pain, to a bit of trauma work, to some energy work, and of course, deep powerful relaxation.
Whatever is your choice and need for the day and time of each session, I do my best to accomplish it.
