Welcome!Going to a new massage therapist is always a new experience. Most of us who receive regular massage and bodywork have an established collection of people we go to. I personally have three therapists that I receive work from on a fairly regular basis, because each therapist has their own strength, one being incredible with aggressive muscle tissue work, another focuses on the energy work, and the third is in the middle of both extremes. What I offer is my own set of skills and perspective of bodywork. I come with a very strong background in the minute, molecular level of understanding of the workings of the body, combined with a very high level of compassion. I have a natural and habitual strength in treating the muscles, but I working toward mastery of the other, less defined work of energy patterns. During my education at BCMT I had the chance to, through direct experience and I forcing my mind to stay open, appreciate the power of treatment methods and concepts of the living human: methods and energies that are well outside the scope of western physiology. With the help of great teachers, I was able to appreciate that I could, in fact, feel and notice these energy pathways. During my training I found that people requested a male student because they wanted "deeper" pressure, and thus much of my in school practice was focused on making changes in the muscular body. I can still do such forceful work, but I generally prefer to find softer ways to accomplish the same results when ever possible. I have been amazed at the power of bodywork involving the subtle energies, and thus I have started an apprenticeship with a teacher that has been studying this material for more than 20 years. In a nutshell, as a massage therapist, I feel it is an honor to care for you and to do what I can to help you. I maintain a completely confidential and ethical environment, not only to reduce confusion over the touch, but to allow each client the environment to explore (or not) some of the patterns and tensions of their body that they might have previously thought a routine or normal cost of living.
